“What orgasm is to the body, this shuddering psychedelic experience is to the brain.”
– Timothy Leary
When human beings fail to face their own home-brewed maladies, they often resort to ignorance-driven oblivion, at least for the moment of confused ecstacy. In this situation, they avoid their pain by ‘running away’ from it. They have a strong belief in the gradual decay of worries for the mere fact that they are fantasizing in void: smoking their weed, LSD, cocaine, over-drinking their alcohols to the last drop, having orgies to the last disgust, keeping silent till the moment of silent spring of madness, chewing their khat and ayahuasca…etc just to remain oblivious, to be lost like never before, to have an unprecedented access to Slavoj Zizek‘s #DesertOfTheReal, where the only surving Oasis of Relaity is folk psychology and present-minded consumerism. This reminds me of the words of Leonidas Matsoukas, the main character in the novel A Dream of Kings: “The poor devil died in desperation to escape.”
Hence, if we as human beings are afraid of the ” Total Recall” of our own very essence of existence, the rate at which our species fades away unconsciously ecstatic will be faster than the speed of light or Einsteinian Quantum Leap. What we should do: we should remind ourselves that whatever we do to forget ourselves, our worries, our aspirations, at last our everything human experience, till the moment comes when we cease to exist humans with beings, with essence and taste of living unusually we will have no magical touch of banishing our brain tarnishing human affairs. So let us not stop thinking, imagining, acting like never before on our own than swimming in the same pool of amnesia.
